~Kimchi Jjigae, 김치 찌개~

The school has just started. I'm now a third year student of dentistry course A.K.A a first year student of the clinical phase in dentistry!! The briefing about clinical dentistry was so FRIGHTENING!! I was scared to death..






wah!!! i can't believe that i'm going to treat REAL patient!
times really flown this fast!

oh well, what to do...I really have to face this anyway...

enough with my school life. I wanna share this recipe that has been my family fave since my last precious holiday.

Kimchi Jjigae, 김치 찌개

a variety of jjigae or stew-like Korean dish made with kimchi and other ingredients, such as scallions,onions, diced tofu, chicken, and seafood.
~Kimchi jjigae~

Ingredients (bahan-bahan):

For marination (utk perap)-
50-100 ml kimchi juice (taken from the kimchi-squeeze) 
jus kimchi (boleh amik dari packet kimchi dan perah dari kimchi)
3 tsbs light soy sauce
3 sudu besar kicap cair
a little bit sesame oil
sedikit minyak bijan
black pepper
serbuk lada hitam

for the soup (utk sup)-
3 cups of chicken stocks
3 cawan stok ayam
2 cloves of mashed garlic2 bawang putih cincang
Salt to tasteGaram
Green onions

1 tablespoon of chili powder
serbuk cili

250g Kimchi

Other optional ingredients (Bahan yang lain, x nak letak xpe):
Tofu,  broccoli,  radish, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, mushrooms, baby corn, etc.

Directions (cara-cara):

  1. Marinate the all the ingredients for marination for about 30 minutes. Perapkan semua bahan yang perlu diperap selama 30 minit.
  2. Combine kimchi and chicken stock in a pot and bring to a boil. Didihkan kimchi dan stok ayam dalam periuk.
  3. Add the chicken and let it cook. Masukkan ayam yang telah diperap tadi dan biarkan ia masak.
  4. Add the rest ingredients for 10-15 minutes under medium heat. Masukkan bahan-bahan yang lain dan masak selama 10-15 minits dengan api sederhana.
  5. Done!! Siap!!

Alhamdulillah, after being immersed into very hectic week, finally..I'm Free! (just for a moment)..
Next week..SCHOOL!!

oh well, i would like to share this recipe from korea.
Specially to Nur Adibah Abdul Nasir (sorry for the delay).

JABCHAE, 잡채 (taken from wiki)

a Korean dish made from sweet potato noodles (called dangmyeon), stir fried in sesame oil with various vegetables (typically thinly sliced carrots, onion, spinach, and mushrooms), sometimes served with beef, and flavoured with soy sauce, and sweetened with sugar. It is usually served garnished with sesame seeds and slivers of chili. It may be served either hot or cold.

here is the recipe:

  • Starch noodles (or rather we called as Soo Hoon, Suun)
  • 150 grams of beef
  • Spinach
  • 1 medium size carrot
  • 1 medium size onion
  • mushrooms (shitake or white mushroom)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 7-8 green onions
  • soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, pepper, and sesame seeds

  1. Soak dried shitake mushrooms in warm water for a few hours until they become soft. Squeeze the water out of them and slice thinly.
  2. Slice a package of white mushrooms (2 cups’ worth).
  3. Cut a carrot into thin matchstick-shaped pieces 5 cm long.
  4. Cut 7 -8 green onions into 7 cm long pieces.
  5. Slice one onion thinly.
  6. Slice 150 grams of beef into thin strips.

  1. Boil 2 bunches of noodles in boiling water in a big pot for about 3 minutes. When the noodles are soft, drain them and put in a large bowl.
  2. Cut the noodles several times by using scissors and add 1 tbs of soy sauce and 1 tbs of sesame oil. Mix it up and set aside.
  3. Simmer the spinach and put it aside.
  4. On a heated pan, put a few drops of olive oil and your carrot strips and stir it with a spatula for 30 seconds. Put it into the large bowl (don’t burn it!).
  5. Place a few drops of olive oil on the pan and add your sliced onion. Stir it until the onion looks translucent. Put it into the large bowl with your carrots.
  6. Place a few drops of olive oil on the pan and add the sliced white mushrooms. Stir it for a bit and then put it in the large bowl.
  7. Place a few drops of olive oil on the pan and add your green onions. Stir for 1 minute and put it into the large bowl.
  8. Place a few drops of olive oil on the pan and add your beef strips and your sliced shitake mushrooms. Stir it until it’s cooked well, then add 3 cloves of minced garlic, ½ tbs soy sauce and ½ tbs sugar. Stir for another 30 seconds and then put it into the large bowl.
  9. Add 2 tbs of soy sauce, 3 tbs of sugar, 2 tbs of sesame oil, and 1 ts of ground pepper to the large bowl. Mix all ingredients, then sprinkle 1 tbs of toasted sesame seeds on the top.
  10. Serve with rice and Kimchi, or as a side dish

I took this recipe from my korean recipe book that i bought at Kinokuniya.
It is very easy to follow. As for me, to make it easier and time saving, i cooked all of them together and finally, i just add up the noodles.

All my family just love this dish!!

~Cream Puff~

Alhamdulillah!! i made it (finally)...
my favorite pastry : CREAM PUFF..

FYI, cream puff version in Kelantan is a bit different than the original cream puff...
so, i have baked the fusion cream puff!! ^^


here's the recipe:


ingredients (bahan-bahan):

200 ml margerine (200 ml majerin)
500 ml water (500 ml air)
250 g flour (250 g tepung)
6 eggs (6 biji telur)

1/2 tin of sweeten beverage creamer  (1/2 tin susu manis)
1 tin of condensed milk or fresh milk (1 tin susu cair atau susu cair)
1 cup of custard powder (1 cawan tepung kustard)

directions (cara-cara):

1. boils the margerine and water together. turn off the heat.
didihkan majerin dan air. Tutup api.

2. add up the flour and mix it well with wooden laddle.
masukkan tepung dan gaul sebati dengan menggunakan senduk kayu.

3. then, put in the eggs.
kemudian masukkan telur. gaul.

4. pour the batter inside a piping bag.
masukkan adunan ke dalam beg piping.

5. Swirl the batter into a round mountain-like shape.
pipe kan adunan dengan membuat bentuk bulat seperti bukit.

6. then bake it for 15 - 20 minutes at 200 degree celcius until it turns golden.
kemudian, bakar pada 200 degree celcius selama 15 - 20 minutes sehingga kuning keemasan.

1. heat both milks. 
Panaskan susu.

2. mix it with custard powder.
masukkan tepung kustard

3. Let it boils and thicken (very thick).
biarkan didih dan menjadi sangat pekat.

4. Turn off the heat. Let it cool.
tutup api dan biarkan sejuk.

5. Put the filling into the pastry puff!
masukkan filling ke dalam puff pastry.

~Batang Burok~

A new recipe that I have learned from my Sarawakian’s friend. Neyna.
I love Batang Burok since I was a kid.
However, this Batang Burok has different taste than the ordinary Batang Burok which you buy in store.
This is Sarawak Batang Burok or some people might call it as Popia Sarawak (I guess^^)
It is very easy to be made but need some patience!!

~Batang Burok~


1 cawan tepung kacang hijau (algappas or babas)
1 cawan gula (kisar sampai halus)
1 ½ cawan kacang (digoreng & dikisar sampai halus)
½ cawan susu tepung
(for those who don’t really like powdered milk, you can reduce it and vice versa)

1 egg (as a glue)


1.     1.  Goreng semua bahan A tanpa minyak dengan api perlahan sampai sebati dan naik bau. (jangan sampai hangus ye)
2.      2.  Letak tepi

3.     1.  Potong popia menjadi 6 keping. (potong 2 dulu, then potong jadi 3 pulak. So, 1 keping popia, dpt 6 keping)
4.     2.  Then, gulung helaian popia yang dipotong dengan pen (besar) atau lebih baik straw cendol dan lekatkan hujung popia dengan telur.
**Tujuan buat camni supaye popia tu jadi cam batang dan nampak cantik.
5.     3.  Goreng popia sampai kekuningan.
6.     4. Masukkan popia yang digoreng ke dalam bahan A.
7.     5.  Gaulkan popia dengan bahan A sampai popia bersalut dengan bahan A.
**pastikan bahan A tadi masuk juga dalam gulungan popia tu.
8.     6.  Siap!!

~Chocolate Chip Cookies~

안녕!! How are you doing?? Wah!! It has been many days (i lost count^^) since my last post about bolognese pie. This week is money saving, bloated stomach and IFTAR everywhere week!! NICE!! i have not been in the kitchen this whole week. 

Finally, TODAY is the day!! Yay!! I went to the kitchen. Took out my porcelain bowl, all the ingredients that i had bought last week, whisker and biscuit moulds.

Let's make some cookies today!!

Then, i approached my lil bro, Solah.

Me: Baby, jom kite buat cookies nak? kite gune bende yg akak beli dengan baby aritu.^^ 

Baby:.......(silence, keeps on playing his PS2)

Then, next target, my eldest sis, K.Djah. Oh well, she's sleeping.

my last target, my youngest sis, Maryam. OMG, she is nowhere to be found. 

OK. I'll just do it myself. (Ala, selame nie pun buat sorang2 jugak^^)

So, at 11 a.m. this morning, i started my mission. 



1 cups butter
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cups granulated sugar
1 cups brown sugar
2 1/2 cups blended oatmeal *for me, i use fine blended almond*
12 oz. chocolate chips ( i dont measure. Main taram je)
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 cups chopped nuts (your choice) (i didn't put this. Xde barang)
1 tsp. vanilla


1. Cream the butter and both sugars. 
2. Add eggs and vanilla.
3. Mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda. 
4. Add chocolate chips and nuts. 
5. Make your own cookie shapes.
~토끼 version, Rabbit version~

~새 version, Bird version~

6.Bake for 10 - 15  minutes at 190 degree celcius.

~Alhamdulillah!! They are done~

~Family Version (the rabbits are dad and sons, while tthe birds are mom and daugthers~!

Imam Bukhari dan Muslim meriwayatkan maksudnya: Aisyah r.a meriwayatkan bahawa Nabi Muhammad SAW apabila masuknya sepuluh malam terakhir (Ramadan) baginda menghidupkan malam, baginda mengemaskan kainnya dan baginda mengejutkan isterinya (yakni tidak bersama dengan isteri).

~Bolognese Pie~

Menu for today is pie~
to be precise: Bolognese pie~ NYUM, NYUM~~

It is very easy to bake a pie. u can make apple pie (my fav), pineapple pie, chicken pie (family's fav), veggie pie, shepherd pie (next time i'll share the recipe) and lots more.

Now, i would like to share on how i make the pie crust and also the bolognese it self!! Enjoy

~Bolognese Pie~

Ingredients (bahan-bahan):

  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 stick butter
    1 1/2 tablespoon 
    1/4 cup ice 
    water (based on the condition of the dough)

  • Directions (cara-cara):
    1. Put the flour and salt into a bowl.

  • Masukkan tepung dan garam dalam mangkuk.

  • 2. Add the butter and shortening and mix until the mixture looks like grain.

  • Masukkan mentega dan shortening and gaul sampai die jadi cam pasir (cam oat or nestum gitu).

    3. Then slowly, add the water until you can form the dough.

    pastu, masukkan air perlahan-lahan sampai la jadi doh.

  • 4. Split into two pieces and wrap each dough with a plastic wrap.
    Bahagi 2 doh tu, balut dengan plastik.

    5. Chill for at least 1 hours before using it.
    Sejukkan doh tu sekurang-kurangnya selama 1 jam.

    6. After that, take it out from the fridge and let it set for 15 min. 
    Lepas tu, kuarkan dari peti ais dan biarkan selama 15 minit.

    7. Roll out one piece of the dough for the base (put it into pie crust mould) and bake it until it half cooked for 15 minute in 180 degree celcius.
    Tebarkan 1 bahagian doh tu utk dijadikan base (masukkan dalam acuan pie).
    Bakar smpi separuh masak selma 15 minit dalm 180 darjah celcius

    8. Then, put in the bolognese meat.
    Masukkan intio daging bolognese.

    9. Roll out another piece of dough and cover the bolognese. Put on some egg yolk on top of the pie before you bake.
    Tebarkan kan doh yg satu lgi untuk tutp inti. Sapu kuning telur kat atas pie sebelum bakar.

    10. Bake it in 180 degree celcius for 30 - 40 minutes until it golden brown. 
    Bakar selama 30-40 minit dalam 180 darjah smpi die jadi keemasan kuning.

    Ingredients (Bahan-Bahan):

    1 tin tomato puree
    250g minched meat
    1 tin mushroom
    1 onion
    3-5 garlic(diced)
    mixed herb(optional)
    white pepper
    cheese(any kind of cheese)
    mixed veggie (optional)

    Directions (cara-cara):

    1.fry some onion using olive oil or butter. let soft and put in garlic.  
    tumis bwg besar dengan olive oil or butter,tggu smpi lembut then mskkn garlic.

    2.Then, put in minced beef. Let it cooked and out some salt, white pepper to taste.
    lepas tu,mskkn daging.smbil tggu die msk,mskkn garam n serbuk lada putih.

    3.Next, add in tomato puree. Let it boil, and add mushroom (with its liquid) lepas tu,msskkn tomato puree,then gaul.tggu didih sket,pastu mskkn cendawan dan airnya skali.

    4.Taste the sauce. If you get the sour taste (really sour), u can add some oyster sauce to get rid of the sour taste. 
    Rase sos tu, klu rase masam sket ke, ko letak sos tiram sket, nk kasi ilang rase masam die sket.

    5. finally, add on some mixed veggie, parsley and mixed herb. Dont put to much or you will get bitter taste. 
    akhir skali, mskkn kn mixed herb or parsley. jgn letak byk2 sebab nnti die pahit.

    *if you wanna make it thicker, u can add up some corn starch.
    *klu nk kasi pekat sket, leh je letak tepung jagung sket.

    ~Popia Sushi~

    Popia Sushi (Sushi Spring Roll). What is that?? 
    Well, it's like a type of snack or rather we call as Kerepek. It's very popular in Sarawak (I never knew that^^).
    Ok, this popia is not really made with sushi (japanese sushi). People in Sarawak give this name to commercialized it. Which one is better POPIA SUSHI OR POPIA RUMPAI LAUT?^^
    I ate this Popia Sushi last week for the first time. It was very delicious (since i really love sushi + seaweed). It was made by K.Dayang's little sister (she is not little, she's 20, she is Adik Angkat K.Dayang<3). Her name is Nina. 

    Enough with the chat. Let us checkout the recipe:


    Ingredients (Bahan-bahan):

    Spring Roll Wrappers
    Kulit Popia
    Seaweed Sheets (about the same size as the wrappers)
    Kepingan Rumpai Laut (lebih kurang same besar dengan kulit popia tu)
    Eggs (add up some salt and seasoning) (act as a glue)
    Telur (campur sket dengan garam dan perasa

    Directions (Cara-cara):

    1. Spread the beaten eggs over the spring roll wrapper. It act as glue to stick the two sheets.
    Sapu telur diatas kulit popia. Telur ni jadi cam gam utk lekatkan 2 keping (popia dgn rumpai laut)

    2.Then, put the seaweed sheet on top of the egg spring roll wrapper. Make sure the seaweed sheet stick properly with the spring roll wrapper.
    Pastu, letak kepingan rumpai laut atas kulit popia yang dah disapu telur. Pastikan rumpai laut tu lekat betul2 dengan kulit popia.

    3. Then, cut the spring roll wrapper that has been stick with the seaweed sheet. (based on your creativity) As for me, i cut it in 1cm x 1 cm.
    Pastu, gunting kepingan tu mengikut suke korang. kalau timah, timah potong petak 1 cm x 1 cm.

    4. Then, heat up some oil and fry it until it become crunchy. (do not over fry it) Don't let it turn brown.
    Panas kan minyak dan goreng kepingan tu. (Jangan terlebih goreng sampai hangus tau) Jangan bagi kulit popia tu jadi warna coklat.
